Community leaders, including U.S. Congressman David Scott, joined a crowd of more than 200 Clayton County residents April 25 to celebrate the opening of the Frank Bailey Fitness Center in Riverdale.

Regional general contractor Benning Construction Company built the 5,500-square-foot wellness center.

The new facility will serve residents 55-years-of-age and over, and will offer activities for seniors including yoga, tai-chi, line dancing, Zumba dancing, shuffleboard and bocce ball.

On hand were Gail Hambrick, county commissioner; Eldrin Bell, chairman of the Clayton County Board of Commissioners; Frank Bailey, after whom the building is named; Mary Presley, director, HUD-Community Planning & Development and Virginia Gray, former county commissioner.

Founded in 1953, Benning Construction specializes in community centers, grocery anchored retail centers, medical office buildings, educational facilities and multi-screen theatres.
